Maryland State Police are investigating the assault and taunting of a Pennsylvania man driving through Harford County as a possible hate crime.The victim, a 20-year-old African American male from southeastern Pennsylvania, said he was assaulted and taunted by two white men on Route 1 on May 27.The victim was traveling on Rt. 1 north of Castleton Road in a dark maroon Ford Focus. He said the suspects, who were traveling in a black pickup truck, came up behind him and began blowing the horn. The victim told police the pickup then tried to pull up beside him. The victim swerved to avoid a crash and the suspects pulled up beside him and began yelling racial slurs, he told police.The suspects then accelerated and pull in front of the victim, cutting him off. The victim braked and swerved, striking the g stanley cup uardrails on both side of the road. On Wednesday, a federalgrand jury returned a six-count indictment against a Baltimore man.Four of Davon Carter s counts are related to the murder ofLatrina Ashburne, an associate pastor.For those charges, Carter is facing a possible death sentence or mandatory life in prison.RELATED
olice searching for suspect who shot and killed associate pastorAccording to police, Ashburne was getting into her car on May 27, 2016, when she was approached by an unidentified male suspect. She tried to run but was shot in the upper body and later died in a hospital.The indictment says Carterkilled Ashburne with intent to retaliate against a witness and to prevent the attendance and testimony of a person. The witness,who was the indented target, was not identified in the indictment.Carter is also charged with illegal possession of ammunition the day of the murder, as well stanley water jug as possession with intent to distribute marijuana.Those charges carry a maxim stanley drinking cup um term of 10 years in pr stanley kubek ison.
